WEDGEMOUNT LAKE
13.5 km | 1,200 m | 5.5 hours
Possibly one of our absolute favourite hikes to date. If you like a steep, grueling challange, look no further. This is your adventure. As they say... "the best views come after the hardest climb", which is definitely the case for this hike. Wedge Mountain is the highest peak in all of Garibaldi Provincial Park. The lake lies only 7 km from the trail head making it one of the steepest hikes in Whistler. This however, allows hikers to easily complete it as a day hike in only a few hours. It is a very technical hike, especially the rock field you need to climb right before you reach the lake. We would recommend poles for this hike, especially for the way down.
Mount Weart
19 km | 2,140 m
Wedgemount Lake alone is a pretty big day hike with stunning views, but if you’re camping overnight or super ambitious you can keep going. Above the Lake lies both Mount Weart and Wedge Mountain. To access both of these peaks, you need to go around the Lake and head up above the glacier.
Wedge Mountain
21 km | 2,500 m
As mentioned, Wedge Mountain is the highest peak in all of Garibaldi Provincial Park and lies at over 2,900 m above sea level. Based on reviews this trail is quite difficult and dangerous even for experienced hikers/climbers. There is a lot of loose rock you need to scramble up and back down.
