WINTER HIKING IN WHISTLER
LOST LAKE
The Lost Lake Trails are perfect for beginners and families with stunning views of the frozen lake and surrounding forest. This area is patrolled and offers rentals.
Because we prefer longer distances, we tend to always hike the Molly Hogan and Donkey puncher trail when in this area (6.5 km | 210 m).
From day lot 5 head towards the Passivehaus to purchase your daily trail pass. You will see the red snowshoe trail sign on your right which will take you to the Lake via the Nature Walking Trail. Here keep right and follow the orange signs to loop around the lake and back to your starting point.
After completing your adventure, the Four Seasons is a great spot to stop and enjoy a well deserved lunch.
CALLAGHAN LAKE
Callaghan Valley offers over 30 of marked snowshoe trails including peaceful forest paths and wide-open meadows. You can start from either the Alexander Falls parking lot or from Olympic Park. This area is also patrolled, offers rentals and requires a ticket for entry.
RAINBOW FALLS
Rainbow Falls is quiet, serene and great for nature lovers. There is a short easy trail with beautiful views of frozen waterfalls, or you can opt to continue on a more difficult back country adventure. This trail is not maintained and it is free to use, but you do need to come prepared with your own gear.
CHEAKAMUS RIVER
Along the Cheakamust River and beyond, there are a number of trails that can be accessed all year round. They are a bit more off the beaten path, but worth the adventure. With gorgeous views of the turquoise river, old-growth forests, frozen lake and two suspension bridges. This area is also free to use and it is not patrolled.
