BRANDYWINE FALLS

3.5 km | 120 m | 1.5 hours

It has always been on our bucket list to go below the falls. Seeing IG posts, we knew this was possible, but didn’t know how to get down to it. Do not go via the view point above the falls, as you will be passing a “do not enter” area and find yourself at the top of a cliff. You will need to access the trail to the falls from the Sea to Sky Trail. Hang a left after you cross the train tracks and a right before the river running down from Swim Lake.

This is a short hike and therefore great as a family adventure. Just be careful. Once you get near the falls, you will need to traverse across the base of the mountain along the river which is slippery and steep. Especially dangerous when the water level is high and flowing fast.

This is a short walk or snowshoe on a winter day when you don’t feel like skiing. The trail is quiet mainly because the Brandywine parking lot is closed. We left our car on the side of the hwy by the entrance to the lot like many others, but note that there are tow away signs, so do this at your own risk.

You can also park north of the park on McGuire Road and snowshoe in on the Lava Lake Trail. We have never done this, but the trail looked pretty maintained and we ran into people that were coming from that direction. The Sea to Sky Trail can loop you back to your car, which we have done in the summer but again, not in the winter.
