PALM SPRINGS

Palm Springs is a popular hot destination over the winter months for those living in the Vancouver area. It is a quick and direct flight and there are plenty of activities for all ages to enjoy. This of course meant that I was looking for an area to hike. Love that you can pull up Alltrails anywhere you go and find nearby trails.

We decided to head to Painted Canyon and try the Ropes and Ladders trails. The access road leading to the trail head is in terrible condition with huge potholes and not meant for your rented minivan. We made it about 1km short of the trail head and decided to pull over and hike the rest of the way.

There are two sides to the Canyon…the Ropes side and the Ladders side. If you are hiking with children I would recommend avoiding the Ropes side as there is a 20 foot rope through a narrow slot. We hiked the Ladders side first and thought we would go back through the Ropes side. Once we got the the 20 foot rope and looked down, no way were we able to continue. We had to back track and make our way out through the Ladders making our hike much longer than planned.
