PETGILL LAKE
12.5 km | 680 m | 4 hours
We chose to do this hike en route to a ladies hiking weekend in Whistler. Based on alltrails it was supposed to be much shorter with less elevation. Not so!
The day was overcast so we didn’t get the views this trails has to offer. We never went around the lake, but did go to the Howe Sound Viewpoint to see absolutely nothing. So we will need to repeat this on a bluebird day.
You need to park at the Browning Lake parking lot, which fills up fast on warm sunny days. From here you will cross the hwy on foot and walk along the road for a short distance before getting to the trail head. Climb up a steep rock face before disappearing into the trees and beginning your way up to the lake. The trail is often muddy and known to be home to black bears so be prepared!
