PUGLIA FAMILY TOUR

We have been wanting to take our kids on a Duvine family tour for a while now. It won’t be the cheapest holiday you ever take, but it will be the most memorable. From 5 star resorts to Michelin star restaurants, your private tour with your two amazing guides will be filled with luxury and non-stop adventure.

Puglia Family Tour

Day 1 - Ontranto

We flew to Bari and took a train down to Lecce. We only stayed one night at the Risorgimento Resort in this beautiful and charming town located in the southernmost area of Puglia. I wish we would have had more time to explore this town before meeting our guides. It definitely is worth the visit.

Once the guides picked us up, we took a transfer to our first hotel, Cenuta Centoporte, where our adventure began. We pedalled past endless olive groves, through a series of small towns and ended up in the enchanting seaport of Otranto. Along the way we stopped for the most memorable lunch at Osteria Origano, a small boutique winery in the village centre of Minervino de Lecce.

Day 2 - Tricase Porto

All family tours are “adventure” tours so they include activities other than cycling for the entire family to enjoy. Snorkelling the glittering Mediterranean Sea may have been the highlight for our boys on this trip.

This spot was just a stop along our ride to Tricase Porto. It gave us a chance to get off our bikes and cool off in the sea before our incredible lunch at A Casa Mia.

While the boys wanted to head back to the hotel to spend the afternoon by the pool, we chose to ride back the 35 km to the hotel to work off the big lunch we had.

Day 3 - Adventure Day

Today was supposed to be our full adventure day of kayaking and snorkelling, but the weather had other plans. The winds were so strong it wasn’t safe to go in the water. Instead we explored nearby towns and made our move to our next hotel, which was even more spectacular than the last.

The Ottolire Resort is a magical place among the Trulli, which are characteristic dwellings of the Itria Valley made of roughly worked limestone boulders collected from neighbouring fields. Characteristically, they feature pyramidal, domed or conical roofs built up of corbelled limestone slabs.

Day 4 - Locarotondo & Alberobello

Definitely my favourite day of the trip! We spent the morning riding from our hotel through Locarotondo to Alberobello. The small Italian town with hilly and narrow streets, white houses with conical roofs, where life is slow, felt like something out of a fantasy book. With the most incredible home cooked meal in the garden of a Truly, nearby tourists admired in awe.

Day 5 - Egnata & Savelletri

By the last day the body were quite tired, but they were troopers. We rode from our hotel down to the sea where we had an amazing seafood lunch in Savalletri at Al Polpo Re. After lunch the boys went back to the hotel to spend the afternoon by the pool, while we rode back to get in the extra miles.

Our final dinner was in Speziale at Trattoria Il Cortiletto . Definitely a must if you’re in that area.
