BLACKCOMB ICE CAVE
Wow is all I have to say. What an absolutely incredible wonder created by Mother Earth. I truly felt like Elsa in the depth of this deep blue glacier ice cave. The cave appears differently every season and I can’t wait to see what we will find this upcoming winter. Head out on this adventure with your family and friends and enjoy a picnic on a sunny winter day.
This cave is accessible by skis only on the Blackcomb Glacier. Take Glacier Express up then ski down to Showcase T-Bar. At the top of the T-Bar you will need to remove your skis and begin your short hike up to the right. From here you will see the tracks that traverse across the mountain, which can be seen in one of our photos below. Traverse about half way across then cut down the mountain to access the cave from above. You pretty much end up dropping right into it. You will see the shadow of the cave and tons of people out in front. The key is to traverse far enough so you don’t have to remove your skis and walk back to it. It’s much better to ski right to it.
