BROTHERS CREEK & BLUE GENTIAN LAKE

5 km | 250 m | 1.5 hours

We love this hike for its variety. There are endless trails and loop options in this area and these three are our favourites. Whether you have the kids and only want to do the 5 km loop or the time and energy to keep going, the choice is yours. This is a beautiful trail with bridges and waterfalls and is mostly low traffic. Great for dogs and peace and quiet.

For this short option, begin the loop as per Alltrails but cut across the crossover trail to return rather than going all the way up and around.

This tends to be a favourite to bring friends on who are just beginning to hike. Decent distance, not too much elevation and very picturesque.

In the past, we needed to watch out for is the water level as only the 5 km loop had a bridge to cross the river. Finally in the bridge that has been promised for years has been installed so the loop can be completed at any time. We like to go up on the west side of the river as the terrain is rooty and rocky and descend on the east side.

Note: Currently the lower bridge by the falls is out and detour is required! (fall of 2023)

If you’re up for the longest loop, you do need to bear in mind that there is no bridge to cross the river by Blue Gentian Lake so you do have to watch the water level and cross the river on foot. This photo is proof that last winter we may not have made the best choice in hiking this. Rivers are often difficult to access in the winter and getting wet and cold can be dangerous. If you don’t think you can cross safely, please turn around and go back to the bridge below.
