ALEXANDER FALLS
2.5 km | 120 m | 1 hour
Whether it’s too cold or you don’t feel like skiing, some days it’s ok to stay away from the Alpine and hit the Valley. That’s the beauty of Whistler…so many options.
The base of Alexander Falls is easily accessible in the winter via one of Callaghan’s many snowshoe trails. We have only done this during the winter and not sure this can be done during the summer months when the falls are not frozen.
Do the loop the way they have indicated on the map as the Falls Express is steep and easier to climb than to slide down when wearing spikes or snowshoes.
12 km | 310 m | 4:30 hours
We have also done the Finger Lakes and Real Life loops in addition to the Falls, which was quite the adventure. Note to self…a 12 km snowshoe through snow that’s up to your knees isn’t the same as a 12 km hike. There were moments where we wanted to cry, but we made it. Next time we will be better prepared. The views along the Fingers Lake Trail were absolutely stunning. Real Life is part of the XC ski trail which ends up being hard packed and a long but easy out.
