The logging road to the trail head is not in the best condition and you will need a 4x4 vehicle to get up there. There are two parking lots and trail head options. We chose the lower lot as we were told the road to the upper lot was not only filled with potholes, but quite steep in certain sections. This made our hike longer, but worth the climb. The trail runs parallel to Brandywine Creek and is deep in the forest. Have your bug spray ready in the spring and summer months, as you will need it! The steep trail will spit you out at the Meadows, which will be filled with stunning alpine flowers from about mid July to mid August with Brandywine Mountain perched in the background. Unfortunately with the heat wave this summer, even though we went in July we seemed to have missed the flowers or perhaps we were too early for them.

We didn’t have the time, but you can continue past the meadows and up to Brandywine Mountain for an extra 6km and signifiant elevation gain.
